I’ve been working on this painting for what seems like forever, but it’s finally done. And now I have a mission to go with it.
When I was growing up with a single mom and two brothers, there were times when we didn’t have enough to eat. But thankfully there was a food bank nearby that helped my mom feed us. When I was out of college and trying to make it as a small business owner, there were times when I didn’t have enough for more than mac ‘n’ cheese and cereal. Thankfully my church helped run a food bank in town, and everyone there was happy to help me out. I would also help with food bank pick-ups to repay the kindness that had been given to me. Now that I’m back in Michigan I have been volunteering to pick up bread from a local restaurant because I believe in the importance of local food banks. It’s a small food pantry that’s run by a church here in Fenton, but the demand has been growing and they are greatly in need of meat and canned goods. Since I don’t have money to give to them straight out, I thought I would sell this painting and give that money to them to help buy the food that they need for the people in our community.
This painting is 18×24″ on gallery canvas. The edges are 1 1/2″ thick and painted blue so a frame isn’t necessary
The cost is $250 and $200 of that money will go to the food pantry in Fenton. (I had to raise the price to cover taxes and other costs from putting it up in a gallery… I guess you gotta’ spend money to make money, even if it’s for a good cause!) You can see the painting in person at 210 Main in Milford, MI.

I’m also hoping that this might inspire some people to use their talents to help people and causes that are important to them. You may not think that what you have to offer is important, but it is. We all have been given gifts and talents and there are many ways to use them to love and help others.
